Two things have prompted my recent decision for this; my husband having the ability to work ‘specials’, to earn more money, and my research to find high quality course you can pay monthly.
Found one via AIPC, and it has a 24 month payment plan, which would make it possible to pay for it.
I would prefer to study psychology, but the cost and not being able to enrol into full time campus based study, prevents that.
But, I’m aware a counselling course provides the basics to being able to work within the field of counselling people who need it and I see it is a field much required and in demand and will continue to increase in demand.
I know I can specialise and do added study for trauma and abuse, which is my field of interest and where I already have so much experience, knowledge and insight into.
But, I am aware I need the study too. And it is mostly online study, which will suit me.
It really is a field I would like to work within, helping people to heal and recover from trauma and abuse, as I personally know the damage, hurt and life changing consequences this has and the need for people to have help.
So, once my husband and I have worked out what his income is likely to be, sorted out Centrelink and know our incoming finances and then whether we can afford the course, if we can – I can go ahead.
It is my passion to follow this.
I feel like I have been in ‘training’ for this all my life.
My life has equipped me with much personal experience and continues to, and my empathy and increasing knowledge of this subject, my personal path through counselling myself, my insight into trauma and abusers, plus my increasing discernment into human behaviour, is all needed for a counsellor with insight and willingness to deal with the darker sides of life and it’s consequences, to help people who have and continue to suffer.
So that plus my continuing study into psychology and my Biblical/theology, will be studying my passions in life.
I believe God creates our passions from our lives and I also know I want to be a Christian counsellor, so will need to study in relation to this too.
I do believe this is the path laid out for me, by God and is His plan for me.
