Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

A journey to healing from complex trauma.

Poem – I Don’t Need To Be Your Average

IMG_9946mod-L-001

Acceptance
Of reality
Differences
Of a life
Not common
In my society

Painful history
Unusual
Decades
Suffering
Severe pain
So many
Abusers
Evil

Cumulating
In differences
Strengths
Weaknesses
No-one relates
To me, and
I don’t relate
To average society
Or average Christianity

Counsellor’s belief
“You are a
Walking miracle”
Doctor’s belief
“Learning is deep
Precious
But healing
Not complete”

But maybe
Normal
Average
Never
My path
That ‘unhealed’
Is meant
To be
Purpose
For God

My passion
My refusal
To conform
My deeper
Empathy
Wisdom
My drive
To help
Those suffering

This comes
From ‘my’ life
My experiences
Unless lived
Not understood
No-one
Understands
Who I am
I accept this

Never fitting in
To society
Not fitting in
To Christianity
Is this really
Wrong?
Why would
I want
Average?

Maybe
Average
Normal
Was never
My journey
And
Won’t be.

Author: Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

I am a survivor of complex and multiple trauma and abuse, who at the age of 40, began my healing journey. I am using my journey to recovery and healing, to help others, to help survivors feel less alone, validated, encouraged and to enable others to understand themselves more. Complex trauma, particularly from severe, prolonged childhood abuse, is profoundly life changing. Complex trauma produces complex adults. The journey to recovery is a painful, often lonely, emotional daily challenge and it is my aim to encourage others in their daily battle. ~ Lilly Hope Lucario
