Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

A journey to healing from complex trauma.

People whinging and whining here….try taking a look at what goes around the world.

A common whinge and whine with women, who are overweight and unfit, is ‘how hard it is to go to the gym and how people don’t understand that’.

I was severely abused for the first 20 years of my life and through my 30’s. I’ve had every form of abuse done to me, over prolonged periods of time. No love, no support. I’ve had PTSD all my life. Depression all my life. Anxiety all my life.

During my 20’s and 30’s – I got my butt in the gym and was healthy. I didn’t sit around complaining how hard it was, I just did it.

Maybe these whingers should take a look around the world. There are women, teenagers, children, having to walk many km’s a day, just to be able to have clean drinking water that we get out of a tap. They have to walk in 100 degrees heat and get attacked and sexually assaulted and they still do it. Because they have no choice.

That is something to complain about.

They don’t sit around whinging how hard it is to get up, put on the nice gym clothes and drive in a nice comfy car, to the air conditioned gym.

I think too many people in our society these days, are just lazy, and feel entitled to whinge and whine and basically are just deluding themselves with excuses and justifications.

People often feel very ‘entitled’ these days to make a big drama, out of nothing and make little issues into something far larger than it is in reality. Catastrophize normal/average life issues.

These are cognitive distortions and in this gym situation – often just laziness and poor choices – all wrapped up in excuses.

Stop whinging and just do it.

Is this being compassionate – some would say no.

But, I believe in the truth, because anything else, is not helping someone. It is enabling their issues. Stroking their ego and their entitlement.

Can these whingers handle the truth – no most likely not.

So, I say nothing. And just praise God – I am not like them.

I will add to this,

This post is not about me thinking highly of myself either. It is my belief that many people could in fact do better and are letting themselves down and their health – by not pushing themselves more and making what are clearly excuses. There are millions of people in this world with no health care, not enough food and people in rich society’s are ruining their health, with laziness, justification and making their lives worse.

Consider the millions of people in the world walking and getting attacked, whilst finding clean water. Think about their strength and know we can all find the strength to look after our health appropriately. No excuses – it is vital, for our overall health and wellness.

This is al hard to hear, I know. But, it is needed and it is the truth.

People pleasing, enabling their unhealthy beliefs, is not love, compassion, or helping.

The truth often hurts. I know.

I am a survivor of complex and multiple trauma and abuse, who at the age of 40, began my healing journey. I am using my journey to recovery and healing, to help others, to help survivors feel less alone, validated, encouraged and to enable others to understand themselves more. Complex trauma, particularly from severe, prolonged childhood abuse, is profoundly life changing. Complex trauma produces complex adults. The journey to recovery is a painful, often lonely, emotional daily challenge and it is my aim to encourage others in their daily battle. ~ Lilly Hope Lucario

  1. You are absolutely right. I got very heavy a couple years ago and was very down on myself. I would eat two portions of pretty much every meal and 2-3 energy drinks then cry when I had to step on a scale. That was until my Bubby (God bless him) pointed out to me one time when I was whinging about being fat said “get off your arse and do something, you are the only one to blame for your situation” I did not like that one bit, but I did listen and since have lost nearly 50lbs! Due to different health stuff I am on hold but I am still in control of what I put in my mouth! God bless you sister!

    • Praise God for courageous people like you, who are willing to admit when we do things wrong, that are our own doing and not make excuses and accept what we need to do to put it right.

It is hard to hear the truth, but it is needed and often the truth hurts – I know.

Well done you, for losing 50lb! What a huge success!

I love your honesty, courage, heart and soul ❤

God continue to bless you too sister xox

      • Thank you beautiful! It really is hard to hear, if I hadn’t who knows where I would be health wise or even mentally! God bless you endlessly sister!!! And good for you!
