Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

A journey to healing from complex trauma.

Some people’s advice, is downright dangerous.

 Wow!

I just had someone on Twitter *tell* me I will *never* heal from complex PTSD, there is *no* healing.

It’s a really good job I am not feeling suicidal today !

I don’t believe in *telling* people *everyone* can heal completely, as this sets people up for shame and failure, if they don’t.

I also don’t believe in *telling* anyone,
they will *never* heal, as that sets people up for hopelessness and despair.

Neither of these messages are healthy, appropriate, or helpful. And these extreme messages can be dangerous.

Why do people focus on these extremes? Such cognitive distortion.

There is whole continuum between these two extremes.

I believe everyone is capable of their own level of healing, in their own time, little by little and each persons healing level will be different and that is absolutely okay.

Some people, are really unwise and dangerous in their ‘advice’.

Please be careful, where you take your advice.

Yes, she has been blocked from my Twitter, I don’t need unhealthy advice in my life.

I am a survivor of complex and multiple trauma and abuse, who at the age of 40, began my healing journey. I am using my journey to recovery and healing, to help others, to help survivors feel less alone, validated, encouraged and to enable others to understand themselves more. Complex trauma, particularly from severe, prolonged childhood abuse, is profoundly life changing. Complex trauma produces complex adults. The journey to recovery is a painful, often lonely, emotional daily challenge and it is my aim to encourage others in their daily battle. ~ Lilly Hope Lucario

  1. serendipitous post because although I never expected to, I had a pleasant feeling and thought today that I am actually going to fully recover. I rather loved a movie I saw with Anthony Hopkins called “The Edge.” One of the things he said was “if one person can do it, another can too”.
My advise would be “avoid people who give advise” XXXX ❤
