Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

A journey to healing from complex trauma.

Karma is a cognitive distortion of ‘magical thinking’.

I have known for a long time that karma is BS. I’ve known this since studying Buddhism and being confused and then coming to the conclusion that karma was BS.

Now I see that in psychology terms, karma is nothing more than magical thinking.

This keeps happening to me. I ‘know’ something, I know it’s wrong, I know it’s a cognitive distortion, but don’t have psychology wording and understanding to put to it.

I often instinctively know things and work them out for myself as being irrational thinking, and then find out later I was correct and how.

“There is no logical or rational basis behind the concept of Karma”.

I’ve known for a long time, there is nothing rational about karma. People just believe it because they want to, often because they like the concept, they like the idea of good happening to them if they do good, or like the idea of revenge occurring for bad.

Magical thinking, is a very immature level of cognitive functioning and is seen in young children. Which many adults, do not grow and mature past.

And as with all cognitively distorted people, they will defend their cognitive distortions with all their might.

I am a survivor of complex and multiple trauma and abuse, who at the age of 40, began my healing journey. I am using my journey to recovery and healing, to help others, to help survivors feel less alone, validated, encouraged and to enable others to understand themselves more. Complex trauma, particularly from severe, prolonged childhood abuse, is profoundly life changing. Complex trauma produces complex adults. The journey to recovery is a painful, often lonely, emotional daily challenge and it is my aim to encourage others in their daily battle. ~ Lilly Hope Lucario

  1. When good old fashioned common sense, logical reasoning, rational thought are applied to many theories or concepts they crumble and don’t hold up.

From around 1986 to 1991 a group of us interested in new age metaphysics began practicing concepts now known as The Secret.

    Such concepts as….
    – we create our own reality
    – everything happens for a reason
    – everything is a lesson
    – there are no accidents
    Etc etc

I began to realize over time when trying to live my life by The Secret that it’s a complete load of crap created by control freaks for control freaks.

It’s also all about blaming the victim. If someone got cancer or was attacked or anything where they need empathy & support they were instead asked ” why did you create this for yourself ” and ” what lesson do you need to learn. ”

Never any mention about holding people accountable for crimes or abuse.

    Totally dysfunctional and very damaging.

    • The worst part of the human condition is feeling powerless so people made up The Secret concepts to avoid the extremely difficult & uncomfortable reality that we humans are powerless over life a majority of the time.
