Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

A journey to healing from complex trauma.

Without the capacity for empathy, advice is never wise.

The capacity for empathy, is not common. Most people can have sympathy, and some not even that.

I always know when I am dealing with someone who either has, or does not have, the capacity for empathy, by their responses to suffering.

Those who do not have empathy, will often give unwise, hurtful, harmful advice, and some will make the situation all about themselves. Or respond in a very selfish/self serving manner.

The capacity for empathy, is a truly amazing gift.

Empathy is something I am teaching my children, because the world needs more empathy and wisdom.

And you have to have empathy, to be able to model and teach it.

Author: Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

I am a survivor of complex and multiple trauma and abuse, who at the age of 40, began my healing journey. I am using my journey to recovery and healing, to help others, to help survivors feel less alone, validated, encouraged and to enable others to understand themselves more. Complex trauma, particularly from severe, prolonged childhood abuse, is profoundly life changing. Complex trauma produces complex adults. The journey to recovery is a painful, often lonely, emotional daily challenge and it is my aim to encourage others in their daily battle.

  1. Great READ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 oh my ~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. since I have been on your website, the desire to talk to others regarding personal issues has Diminished. I was always looking for validation.. Since I found your website I know I am NOT crazy—dealing with crazy making behaviors of mentally ill sister. thank you

    • I am thankful my blog has helped you❤

I too have sought validation/support from the wrong people throughout my life.
The lack of empathy in society, is very evident to me.
Now, I am very careful where I seek my advice, support.
I don't discuss my journey with most people. It only invites more hurt, more unwise advice, more invalidation.
So, I avoid that occurring, by being very mindful of the people in life and where they are at in terms of empathy and wisdom.
This is my advice to others. ❤

  3. perfect advice. I recently edited a so called Christian friend from my life. Tired of her asinine remarks. Sympathy for the abuser. ” Oh your sister was affected also by your parents” “Oh don’t forget she is family” once I made a remark regarding where I am in life -her response ” Well, that is because of decisions you made” When my son could not walk because of an auto accident “OH, he can work from a wheelchair-plenty of people do” !!!!!! D O NE WITH H E R
