Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

A journey to healing from complex trauma.

How is wasting half a billion dollars, Christ-like?

There is a bizarre situation occurring here in Australia. Many are demanding a plebiscite to have their say on gay marriage/marriage equality. Because they don’t want it made legal. So, in order to ‘have their say’, they want to waste half a billion dollars.

Gay marriage will be a reality. It’s going to happen. Whether you like it or not. Whether you agree with it or not.

So wasting half a billion dollars, just to delay the inevitable, is what many want.

Ummm…. wasn’t Jesus all about helping the poor, the marginalised, the ignored, the abused etc ????

The Jesus I know, would want that money used to help the homeless, help domestic violence survivors, help those with mental health issues, help track and stop abusive people like paedophiles grooming children on line, to help prevent more child sexual abuse..etc.

Aren’t these the kinds of people and huge issues, we should be spending half a billion dollars on? Aren’t they the poor, the marginalised, the abused, the ignored, the suffering?

Do people really want to waste half a billion dollars, trying to stop people from proving their love and devotion to each other in marriage…… rather than help people who are suffering? Clearly the suffering, are not their priority.

They forget gay people are already living together, already having sex, having children, adopting children. etc. They simply want to get married. And stopping them getting married, is not going to stop people being gay.

Sure, many church people will quote the Bible in their very legalistic way. They will raise up certain Bible verses on a pedestal, as an idol. Verses – they have wrongly interpreted out of context…… as being more important to waste money on – to demand their say……… than help people who are suffering, in the way Jesus modelled.

And Jesus said virtually nothing about being gay. It wasn’t a big deal to Him. But, I do see all He did focus on, when He was here.

Church people should realise, in demanding this plebiscite, they are completely failing to model everything Jesus stands for. Everything He modelled.

If this plebiscite goes ahead, that is half a billion dollars wasted, to delay the inevitable, that could have been spent to reduce suffering.

I don’t believe, that is what Jesus wants. At all.

Author: Healing From Complex Trauma & PTSD/CPTSD

I am a survivor of complex and multiple trauma and abuse, who at the age of 40, began my healing journey. I am using my journey to recovery and healing, to help others, to help survivors feel less alone, validated, encouraged and to enable others to understand themselves more. Complex trauma, particularly from severe, prolonged childhood abuse, is profoundly life changing. Complex trauma produces complex adults. The journey to recovery is a painful, often lonely, emotional daily challenge and it is my aim to encourage others in their daily battle.
