A lack of normal and needed childhood emotional bonds with parents/ caretakers, affects the child developmentally. This can create deep toxic shame.
This often appears to manifest as ongoing depression, as the survivors goes into adulthood.
If this toxic shame is not processed and healed early, through therapy or healthy healing relationships….. the toxic shame induced depressive state, will continue on throughout the adult survivors lifetime.
It affects quality of life & often all relationships the survivor enters into, as the survivor struggles to bond in a healthy way with other adults. And struggles to feel joy & happiness as more than short loved highs, cycling down into the depressive state.
