Shame Shifting Is Abuse

I am a survivor of complex and multiple trauma and abuse, who at the age of 40, began my healing journey. I am using my journey to recovery and healing, to help others, to help survivors feel less alone, validated, encouraged and to enable others to understand themselves more. Complex trauma, particularly from severe, prolonged childhood abuse, is profoundly life changing. Complex trauma produces complex adults. The journey to recovery is a painful, often lonely, emotional daily challenge and it is my aim to encourage others in their daily battle. ~ Lilly Hope Lucario

  1. This week I had a close friend berate me for my PTSD. He said that he had been abused and has gotten over it, so why don’t I get a grip. He went on and on, I was so hurt that I did not have the ability to hang up on him. Later that night I called him to tell him how disgusted I was. But this isn’t the first time, he’s done this. But I’ve always seen this as caring and not protest now there is no doubt in my mind he’s a bully.
